BetaFPV Released New Air65 Brushless 1S 65mm Whoop Quadcopter

BetaFPV Air65

Ultra-light Series for Racing and Freestyle

Renowned and respected hobby developer BetaFPV has announced the new ultra-light series of FPV quadcopters, "AIR65". According to the engineers, this model boasts next-level performance with a weight of only 17 grams.

Air65 Features

The AIR65 is equipped with several advanced features:

  • Air Canopy: Lighter, more flexible, and durable FPV camera protection.
  • Air65 Brushless Whoop Frame: A new ultra-light and crash-resistant frame.
  • Air Brushless Flight Controller (4IN1): An advanced flight controller.
  • Two Power Installation Options: Dividing the quad into two versions, "Racing" and "Freestyle".
  • 1S LiHV Batteries: LAVA series with capacities of 260mAh and 300mAh.

Flight Controller

The AIR65 features the first 1S FC using the G473 processor, the Air Brushless Flight Controller (4IN1), which offers balanced performance and weighs only 2.9 grams. The FC is an "All-In-One" design, meaning the FC, ESC, OSD, and VTX (Analog 5.8GHz with adjustable power: 25mW/400mW) are all integrated onto a single board.

Additionally, it includes an industry-leading ICM42688P gyroscope and a custom-designed OSD chip. The receiver is an External ELRS 2.4G Lite, and several UART ports are available for extended functionality. This new flight controller promises excellent computational power and rapid response time, ensuring more precise piloting compared to the F411.

The AIR65 comes in two versions: "Racing" and "Freestyle". The key difference between them lies in the power system. The racing version is designed for high-speed and agile flight, using 0702SE 27000KV brushless motors paired with 2-blade GF 1219S 3B propellers. The freestyle version, on the other hand, provides precise and smoother flight with 0702SE 23000KV brushless motors and 3-blade HQ 31mm Ultralight 3B propellers.

The development of the AIR65 frame involved meticulous attention to detail. DIY enthusiasts were involved in the process, focusing on reducing the weight of 65mm drones. As a result, engineers improved the Meteor65 micro-frame, slimming it down from 3.64 grams to 2.67 grams.

This new frame maintains exceptional strength and durability while offering a new fixed motor mount slot with an optimized low-profile design. Available in six colors, this frame is the best choice for pilots seeking an ultra-light 65mm 1S Whoop FPV quadcopter in the "Sub18g" category, with options for customization.

Advanced Air Canopy

The protective canopy for the AIR65 frame, designed to shield the ultra-light C03 FPV micro camera (weighing only 1.45 grams), has been significantly improved. BetaFPV engineers redesigned the canopy to make it more flexible, impact-resistant, and durable. It easily accommodates a wide range of analog FPV cameras in Micro and Nano formats. The adjustable tilt angle from 25° to 50° ensures pilots have optimal visualization while reaching the model's full flight potential.

The new Ultralight LAVA 1S 260/300mAh LiHV battery is positioned by the developer as a compact premiere for the AIR65 series. With a more concentrated center of gravity, it provides sharper response, better acceleration, and improved maneuverability. Thanks to the revolutionary Z-Folding process, this LiHV battery exceeds standard capacity and discharge thresholds.

The power connector has also been upgraded. The Ultralight LAVA battery features a BT2.0 U pigtail connector, eliminating flexible long cables, simplifying connection, extending lifespan, and reducing weight by shortening the power cable, making it ideal for ultra-light quadcopters adapted for racing and freestyle. According to the specifications, the maximum flight time for the AIR65 with the LAVA 1S 260mAh 80C battery is an impressive 4 minutes. Batteries are sold separately and are not included in the package!

Availability and Price

The AIR65 Brushless Whoop Quadcopter is available for purchase in both versions through official stores and various online platforms. The AIR65 Brushless Whoop Quadcopter (Racing/Freestyle) is priced at $90. A set of five LAVA 1S 260mAh 80C batteries (5PCS) is available for $19, while the more capacious LAVA 1S 300mAh 75C batteries (5PCS) are priced at $21.
