DJI has updated the DJI Goggles 3 to support the DJI O3 Air Unit, enabling pilots to use a single set of goggles for both the Avata 2 and custom FPV drones with the O3 unit. This guide covers the setup process, benefits, and limitations.

New firmware updates are required for the DJI Goggles 3, DJI FPV Remote Controller 3, and the O3 Air Unit to enable compatibility.

Benefits

  • Use a single set of goggles (Goggles 3) for Avata 2 and custom FPV drones with O3 Air Unit.
  • Simplifies gear setup.

Limitations

  • G3 and O3 work only with Remote Controller 3 (RC3).
  • G2/Integra and O3 work only with Remote Controller 2 (RC2).
  • No live feed sharing (audience mode) between G3 and G2/Integra.
  • No support for older air units (FPV Air Unit or Caddx Vista) with Goggles 3.

This update enhances convenience for DJI FPV pilots, though some compatibility limitations remain.

Unlocking FCC Mode on Avata 2

To enter FCC mode on the Avata 2, third-party paid apps like Drone Hacks or Drone Tweaks, which modify the original DJI Fly App, are typically required. However, there's also a free method to unlock RF power using the "ham file."

Steps to Unlock RF Power:

  1. Obtain the file "ham_cfg_support." from zip archive - Download
  2. Unzip the file to the root directory of the SD card. (can be hidden after unzip - you need to enable display of hidden files)
  3. Insert the SD card into the DJI Goggles 3.

Enjoy!
